SUMMARY:56th Annual Penrod Arts Fair 2023 - Indianapolis\, IN
DESCRIPTION:Saturday  9am-5pm \nThe Penrod Arts Fair is known as “Indiana’s Nicest Day.” From its beginning\, the Fair\, originally dubbed the “Arts Fair at Oldfields\,” has been the The Penrod Society’s signature event and most significant fundraiser. The first Fair was a one-day\, afternoon event (2p.m. to 7 p.m.) that took place at Oldfields on Saturday\, September 9\, 1967—the first Saturday after Labor Day. Public admission was $2 (rich in 1967!)\, and attendees were treated to—or\, rather\, enticed to attend with—free beer. The event included live music\, food and drink\, paintings\, and other art for sale. \nIn some ways\, little has changed in 56 years. Today\, the Penrod Arts Fair is still a one-day event taking place on the Newfields campus every year on the first Saturday after Labor Day\, although now the Fair takes place from 9a.m. to 5p.m. In other ways\, the Fair has changed dramatically. The Fair is now one of the largest single-day arts fairs in the country. The physical footprint of the Fair has grown significantly and now encompasses not only the land of Oldfields (now commonly referred to as the Lilly House)\, but also most of the other open outdoor spaces to the north and east of the IMA’s main building on the Newfields campus. \nAdmission $20 (children 10 and under free) \n

DESCRIPTION:Hope House Foundation\, an agency which provides support services to people with disabilities\, is celebrating its 37th year of hosting the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival. The juried festival\, located in beautiful Stockley Gardens Park in the heart of historic Ghent\, draws thousands of people over the course of the weekend and in addition to fine art\, features a wide variety of foods\, music\, and children’s activities. Our festival has been called Hampton Roads’ best arts festival and was named one of the top two outdoor art events in Eastern Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine six years in a row. DESCRIPTION:April 25: 10-6\nApril 26: 10-6 \n2020 marks the 49th anniversary of this rite of spring in one of Louisville’s most beautiful and historic neighborhoods. \nThe Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is a juried fair with more than 200 artists’ booths. The two-day event is free and open to the public. The Art Fair is held in Louisville’s historic Cherokee Triangle neighborhood on tree-lined Cherokee Parkway between Willow Avenue and Cherokee Road. The neighbors are friendly and welcoming as they celebrate spring with old and new friends alike. The Art Fair began in 1972 and has been one of the area’s favorite events ever since. \nIn addition to art\, patrons of the fair can enjoy food\, drink\, and entertainment. Other attractions include a plant booth with a lush variety of plants and herbs\, the Cherokee Triangle Association booth with offerings of items with the Cherokee Triangle logo\, and the popular Children’s Art Tent for hands-on activities. \nThe annual Cherokee Triangle Art Fair is the major fundraiser for Louisville’s Cherokee Triangle Association (CTA)\, and proceeds are returned to the community and neighborhood. The CTA uses proceeds from the fair to fund summer concerts in Willow Park and to make donations to the Highlands/Shelby Park branch of the Louisville Free Public Library\, Highlands Community Ministries\, and the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Festival attendees pay $10 per day\, children 12 and under are free. Along with more than 250 exhibiting artists\, the Festival features educational demonstrations\, interactive arts areas\, children’s arts activities\, music\, storytelling\, craft beer\, and food trucks. In 2018\, the Festival was named 5th in the nation (based on artists’ self-reported sales) in the category of Classic and Contemporary Craft Shows by Sunshine Artists Magazine\, recognized by Alabama Department of Tourism as one of the top-ten events to attend in Alabama in 2018\, and by Alabama Magazine as one of the “Best of Bama 2018.” The Festival was featured on the National Endowment of the Arts website as one of the top arts programs in the state. DESCRIPTION:The 45th annual show will be held “Under the Trees of Old Chautauqua” on August 17 and 18\, 2019. \nSaturday 9-6. Sunday 9-5. \nThe Pennsylvania Chautauqua sponsors an Art Show\, as a community fundraiser\, on the third full weekend in August. The Pennsylvania Chautauqua is a non-profit organization established in 1892 for the purpose of “the advancement of literary\, scientific\, intellectual\, physical and social welfare and the promotion of cultural and religious activities\, recreation and entertainment”. \nThe Pennsylvania Chautauqua is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. \nMount Gretna is a small Victorian community founded in the late 1800’s as a summer resort. Initially the only way for residents to reach their cottages in the woods was to travel by train. Gretna was a stop along the Cornwall/Lebanon line. Our streets were footpaths until automobiles became the mode of travel. Many of the original cottages surround an open-air playhouse where numerous cultural events are held. Our quaint atmosphere attracts many visitors every summer for music\, theater\, a visit to the local ice cream shop or just a walk in the woods and\, of course\, to the Art Show!
